It’s officially June and Summer is in the air! With Summer comes fun fashion, cocktails and festivals and no festival would be complete without colourful makeup and glitter! I am a major magpie so glitters are one of my favourite makeup products to use all year round – in that spirit I have put together a review of some amazing eye glitters I have tried and tested which can be used not only on the eyes but on the lips, body and even the hair!

11 Must Have Eye Glitters For Your Summer Festival Look: Most makeup brands stock glitters of all kinds now, from loose particles of varying textures and sizes to intense pigments which can be used dry or with mixing mediums. I have several of all of them but I particularly love glitters like the ones I have reviewed in this post, which are already mixed with a fixing agent and ready to use immediately! They make for easy application and less mess when you just need a pop of sparkle or a quick fix! The glitters I have reviewed and swatched are from the following brands: Hengfang, Nyx, Illamasqua, Stila, Kiko, Urban Decay, Collection. All of these eye glitters are brilliant in their own right. They all have great colour pay-off, can be built up or subtle, can be used all over the eye, as eye eyeliner or just as a pop of sparkle, don’t move once applied and have easy to use applicators. Prices vary, with Stila being the most expensive in this collection, but they are all reasonably affordable and will last a while!

11 Must Have Eye Glitters For Your Summer Festival Look: These eye glitters were bought online from a company on the Cute website. Cute is a really affordable makeup and beauty website which also has an app and there are a vast array of products to choose from, some of which are branded, some of which are made by unknown brands and some which make dupes. Hengfang is an unknown brand based in China and I purchased these glitters on a whim but I was very pleasantly surprised! They are all very easy to apply and very sparkly, as you can see in the swatches! I selected 6 shades which can be used all the time with different colours but there were many colours to pick from!

11 Must Have Eye Glitters For Your Summer Festival Look: Nyx - This is from Nyx’s Candy Glitter Liner range in Red. I had to search online everywhere to find this because decent red eye glitters are hard to find! It was worth hunting for though because it applies beautifully and adds a bright red with gorgeous rainbow shimmer wherever it is applied. It is quite dense in the container so you do need to swirl the applicator around to obtain a good amount of glitter but that’s a minor inconvenience compared to the quality of the product. Illamasqua - This is Illamasqua’s Embellishing Eye Gel in Broken Gold. I do not think this is available now sadly but Illamasqua have many glitter based products that are worth trying. I love this particular eye gel because it applies smoothly and is a true gold colour with no other shimmers or facets. It is also a different texture to other eye glitters in that the glitter is not really glitter in the normal sense but flakes of gold! It is a very unusual product but one I love and have used many times!

Urban Decay

This is Urban Decay’s Heavy Metal glitter eyeliner in Distortion and it is my absolute favourite eye glitter! Urban Decay so a whole selection of these glitters but this one is by far the best for me because it is so versatile. It is quite a thick gel consistency but application is simple and it leaves a lovely iridescent shine wherever it is placed! You can see in the swatch that there is a sparkly green facet which catches the light beautifully and because the base gel is clear it can be used in conjunction with any colour to create a different look every time!

Stila

Stila only recently introduced these eye glitters but they are already taking the market by storm! This eye glitter is Magnificent Metals Glitter and Glow in Smoky Storm and it is amazing – it provides a super intense and very sparkly finish and a little goes a long way! There are a number of other shades to choose from but I chose this one specifically for using in glamourous evening looks to make my eyes really stand out. They are at the higher price range when looking at eye glitter options but definitely worth the money.

Kiko

Kiko is fast becoming one of my staple makeup brands for everyday makeup. Everything is good quality, very reasonably priced and easy to apply. This eye glitter is in shade 1 and looks similar to Urban Decay’s Distortion but the finish is actually different when used in makeup looks. The glitter is more multifaceted and you can see that the colours coming through after application are a mix of gold, peach and pale green. On occasion I have used this eye glitter mixed with Distortion and the end result is stunning! Definitely worth having in your makeup kit!

11 Must Have Eye Glitters For Your Summer Festival Look: Collection - These eye glitters are a great find from Collection Cosmetics and impressed me enough to try other products from the brand. They are part of the Glam Crystals Dazzling gel liner range and the colours are Spandex, Funk, Night Fever, Pow and Dig It. You can see in the swatches that they are all colour intense and the glitter is very obvious after only one application. I love using these as liners as the applicators are fine and precise and deposit enough product to be clearly visible over any other eye makeup. There are other colours in the collection which I will eventually buy but so far I am loving these colours and for the price you can easily buy a few at a time! So, that’s my eye glitter lowdown! I am sure my collection will continue to grow given all the amazing products being released but for now these eye glitters work perfectly in all my makeup creations! I hope you enjoyed reading this review and if you haven’t experimented with glitter yet, don’t be scared to – its so much fun and can be used in many ways so get inventive for the Summer!
