One of the things I love to do on a weekend when I can, is to wander round the beauty counters of different department stores and shops! I also love to scour the internet for reviews, offers and great beauty blogs so I can stay up to date with everything in the beauty world. As a massive makeup lover, a beauty blogger and a part time makeup artist to boot, I am always trying to keep up with new makeup and beauty trends and releases and visiting the shops both in person and online is both relaxing and research!

A Beauty Blogger's Weekend Makeup Haul: So, on a recent weekend, I bought some great products from Debenhams and I also had a delivery from an online order – I was a very happy woman! All the makeup I bought is lovely and since that weekend I have used everything a few times to test it. This is what I bought.

So, on a recent weekend, I bought some great products from Debenhams and I also had a delivery from an online order – I was a very happy woman! All the makeup I bought is lovely and since that weekend I have used everything a few times to test it. This is what I bought:

  • The Kat Von D Chrysalis eyeshadow palette
  • The Kat Von D Monarch eyeshadow palette
  • Benefit’s Galifornia Blusher
  • Benefit’s They’re Real Big Sexy Lip kit
  • Urban Decay’s Vice Liquid Lipstick

1. The Chrysalis Palette

A Beauty Blogger's Weekend Makeup Haul: This palette is gorgeous! If you have never used Kat Von D makeup before, you are missing out – her makeup is excellent quality and whilst it is not that cheap, you do get what you pay for! The colours in this palette are perfectly matched to each other and buttery soft , not to mention very pigmented. Here are the swatches.

A Beauty Blogger's Weekend Makeup Haul: Even the paler colours swatch very well and there was very little fallout from any of the shadows. This palette would suit most skintones and could easily be used for daytime and nighttime looks.

2. The Monarch Palette

A Beauty Blogger's Weekend Makeup Haul: This is another great palette from Kat Von D. This is more of a neutral palette, perfect for creating natural looks or a more subtle smoky eye. As with the Chrysalis palette, the shadows are lovely and soft, super intense in colour and easily blendable. Here are the swatches.

A Beauty Blogger's Weekend Makeup Haul: I’ve only used these palettes a few times but I have been very happy with the results! I was fortunate to find someone selling them at a discounted price – they aren’t easy to get hold of now but can be sourced online from Ebay and Amazon.

3. Galifornia

A Beauty Blogger's Weekend Makeup Haul: Benefit creates some of the best blushers I have ever bought. They are all gorgeous, an array of different colours, always pigmented but easy to control the intensity and very affordable. Galifornia is no exception! Both the outer packaging and inner design is amazing – it is a lovely peachy gold colour that suits virtually every skintone and a little goes a long way! This is a definite favourite for Spring and Summer!

4. The Big Sexy Lip Kit

A Beauty Blogger's Weekend Makeup Haul: This was another new release from Benefit and when I tried them in store I had to have them! The beauty of this kit is that you get 4 of the best shades for a very reasonable price. The design of these lipsticks is also very clever – each lipstick has a built in lipliner which perfectly matches the lip colour! The liner is at the tip of the pear shape and all you have to do is use the tip to line your lips followed by the fuller end to fill in. All the shades in this kit are gorgeous, the lipstick is soft and hydrating with great colour payoff and longevity and once applied it has a semi matte finish. I have used every colour and I’m loving them!

5. Vice Liquid Lipstick

A Beauty Blogger's Weekend Makeup Haul: Urban Decay is by far one of my favourite makeup brands! Their Naked palettes were some of the first palettes I ever bought and to this day I still use them because the quality is second to none. The Vice Liquid Lipsticks are no different! They have created a number of beautiful colours and I was spoilt for choice when I saw them. I finally decide to buy the shade Conspiracy, which is a lovely rich deep brown lipstick with gold flecks. It is definitely a colour I would wear more in the evening than in the day as the colour is intense! Its very smooth in texture and once applied it will dry quickly but retains its shine. I have only had occasion to wear it once but it was very comfortable and non-drying. I would definitely recommend these lipsticks and I am hoping to buy some of the other shades soon!

As a freebie with my purchases, I also received a mini Versace perfume called Bright Crystal Absolu! I have never tried perfume by Versace before but I have to say this particular fragrance is lovely! It’s pretty strong, which is great if you want your perfume to last all day and has a sweet, fresh scent. Like all perfumes, once it’s on the skin the fragrance changes slightly but for me it settles down really well and still smells great! Once I have used up the mini version I would happily invest in the full size.

And that’s my weekend beauty haul! I hope you’ve found this review useful and it’s encouraged you to try some new makeup! There are so many more makeup releases to come this year so watch out for more makeup hauls and reviews from me!
