When it comes to shopping I never like to pay full price. Why pay full price when the item will eventually be on sale? In fact, there is always a trusty sale right around the corner from holiday sales to end of season sales you’re covered. But did you know that there are key times during the year to buy certain kinds of clothing, accessories, and shoes? Knowing when to buy what will ensure that you get the best deal on that item you’ve been waiting to buy.

June – July – August

Seasonal Shopping Guide: Know When to Buy What (June - July - August): According to Instyle, June brings some serious sales on blazers and shorts with up to 46% off. Blazers tend to be on the higher end price wise when they are not on sale so this is the time to get that expensive blazer that you’ve had your eye on. July offers huge percentages off of spring apparel up to 80% or more. This is typically a good time to purchase a pair or two of jeans. During this time jeans may be on sale for up to 50% off. Go ahead and treat yourself to those designers’ jeans that have been calling your name. August is the time to finish off any spring items that are still on sale. There’s probably not much left at this point but you may get lucky. Just don’t expect to find a lot of designer items. As summer is on its way out and fall clothing begins to hit the racks, sales on swimwear are at an all-time high. If you need a last minute swimsuit or just want to get a jump start on next year’s summer season, make sure you don’t miss the swimsuit sales.

December – January – February

Seasonal Shopping Guide: Know When to Buy What (December - January - February): In December the sales only get better as retailers also pump up the markdowns on fall collections. Jewelry sales are still in full effect as stores receive tons of new pieces in preparation for the upcoming holidays. The New Year opens with up to 80% off of final clearance fall items. Like the spring final clearances, don’t expect much here as there will only be pickings left. Additionally, save on active wear if you resolve to kick up your workout game for the New Year. Suits are another great find this time of year too. Retailers tend to lower prices since this is a slow time of the year for suits sales. New spring collections start to fill the stores in February and fall items are officially gone until next season. February is the slowest month for sales but you can still count on some jewelry bargains in honor of Valentine’s Day. If you’re not buying any jewelry, make a list of all the fabulous new spring items you want!

March – April – May

Seasonal Shopping Guide: Know When to Buy What (March - April - May): March is the best month to invest in a pair of designer sunnies if that is what your heart desires. Tons are in stock in an array of styles! Another item to look out for is luggage if you think you could use some new travel gear. April brings more Family and Friends sales with stores offering 25-35% off of the seasons spring favorites. This is also a good month to buy a raincoat. It may be too obvious but stores stock up on raincoats during April. Since most shoppers probably won’t need a raincoat in the next month, prices tend to be low. In May, spring sales are still around but as pre-fall items start to make a buzz, last season's fall collections are marked down. Need some new lingerie? This is also a good month to check out what’s available, discounts are between 35-60% off!
