  • 1/2 kg pumpkin, peeled
  • 1 small potato
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 small peppers
  • 2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • Juice of 1/4 lemon
  • 4 Scallions (optional)
  • 3 teaspoons red pepper flakes (for sauce)


Slice the pumpkin, potato and peppers into big pieces.

If you are using onions, saute them with olive oil. Add all ingredient into a pot except cumin powder, grated ginger and lemon juice.

Add water until it covers all ingredients, cover the pot and start cooking. It will take only 30 minutes to cook. When vegetables are getting soft, add grated ginger so that you can taste the ginger flavor better. Add cumin powder and lemon juice too.

Use a blender to smoothen the soup, you may add a small amount of water and boil it again if necessary.

Fry red pepper flakes with butter and use it for garnish while serving.
